At the end of 2017 the 3rd edition of ISO/IEC 19770-1 has been published. The 2017 edition supersedes and replaces the 2012 version which has been the basis for our House of SAM®, and introduces our new House of ITAM®

To summarise, these are the main differences between the 2012 and 2017 version:
- The scope of the standard is extended from SAM to ITAM;
- Change from ‘processes and tiered assessment’ to a ‘IT Asset Management system’;
- Repositioning of processes and tiers;
- Additional and updated requirements, new insights and technologies.
The resulting House of ITAM® is our reference model for IT Asset Management.
On the right side of the model, we show the three main objectives that organisations want to achieve with the implementation and execution of our IT Asset Management services: Compliance, Control and Cost savings.
In the centre of the model, the coloured part of the house, we show the functionality framework: what functionalities do our customers need to have in place to realise their objectives.
The left side shows the maturity model: which functionalities must be implemented in what order.
Finally the bottom, and the foundation of our house, shows the governance model: what processes need to be implemented to control the operational functionalities (based on ISO/IEC).
